Ain’t no party like a Girls Rock Party! We’re honoring the all mighty materfamilias, the hot mamas, mommies, and baaaad mamajamas that have been invaluable to our lives and shaped us into who we are today, for better or worse. Yeah, we're talking 'bout your mom! . . And your step-mom, your grandma, your fairy godmother and your baby mama! Girls Rock Austin's 4th Annual Mama Slay Mother's Day Tea Party Extravaganza shines a light on all the different types of maternal figures that are oftentimes overshadowed.

And although Mother's Day is happy one for many, it can be a complex and painful reminder to others. What better way to burst that bummer bubble than by having some good wholesome clean fun with your soul siblings and sisters from other misters? Which is why you gotta try Girls Rock Austin's brand spanking new original activity!

"Bubble Tai Chi/Qigong" uses slow slow gentle movements and postures, controlled breathing and easy choreography with large bubble wands set to original music to create a a fun, relaxing and meditative experience that's accessible for folks of all ages and abilities. An added bonus, the many moments of whimsy and instant sense of accomplishment you get when can create a really big bubble.

Led by Sensei Lu Villareal (Mixed Martial Arts/Self-Defense Professor at St. Edward's University and the Traditional Martial Arts Academy), this easy yet mindful choreography is set to the original ethereal music of Heavy Stars, the solo project of Austin-based musician and certified yoga and mindfulness teacher for youth with complex needs, Lacey Lewis and the eclectic electro sounds of Crystal Voyager.

All proceeds from this event go towards funding operating costs and scholarships for Girls Rock Austin's Camp Rock-A-Rama, GRA's empowering summer day camp for girls, trans and gender non-conforming youth ages 8-17 and GRA's Operation Lunch Box initiative which has provided over 150,000 nutritious meals to Austin families facing food insecurity, because it's hard feeling empowered with an empty belly.

Don't miss this magical occasion! GRA will provide all the supplies to get you bubbling, plus free Chai Tea courtesy of Starbuck (while supplies last) and of course, Boba! . . . Because who doesn't love a good pun?

Join us Friday, March 18th from 2-10 PM at Batch Craft Beer & Kolaches for GRA’s 15th Annual SX Day Party! This all-ages and dog friendly event features an eclectic mix of women and LGBTQ bands plus a giant bubble station, photo booth vendors and more! $10 suggested donation.
